After the training week we had I was really stoked stoked to race the Europa Cup Kirschberg, I felt like I had done a lot of progress and I really thought I had a chance to reach the next level. Then came the first gate on the race and the feeling I had in training was all gone. The day ended up delivering the worst skiing I have done in a long time and I ended up in a 26th place.
I really dont know why I was unable to get the feeling I had in training yesterday, it seems like as soon as the snow is tough and hard on races I seem to have a harder time then most other skiers. While on NZ and in the spring races I seem to reach my potential a lot easier. I really dont know why that is and I have to figure out how make that trend go away. For now I dont have an answer to how to fix this, but my plan for now is to just train twice as much on though conditions and really figure out how to keep skiing the way I should when things get hard.
When things are tough you just have to fight twice as hard. Have GS training set up in Oberjoch all of next week, so hopefully I will be ready for the race in Arber next week end. As you can see on the last picture, I was not very happy so I am ready to really fight to avoid that feeling! I dont mind sucking, but I really cant stand not undertanding why!

Kör hårt! Ser fram emot att se dig i OS!
Keep checking your blog expecting to see a WIN. Time to try some radical changes? No sex two days before a race? Or you could start stomping triples I suppose
as I have been saying the past few years train on twice as difficult runs as the contest or race
then the easier stuff is simply easier
you are doing the training finally the past year
you are training in gates
your eating sleeping and screwing it which is great
you are visualizing dominance
and probably eating better too
now just train on more difficult runs
and when you do go into gates make as real game day run as possible
in other words believe its the Olympics every time you are going thru gates and of course on steeper runs
if you get tired then you know you have to get into better shape
you will dominate by doing this and these things
you are so bloody close to making it happen and breaking thru
Presently skiing new boots they fricking kill
do i need to get orthodics otherwise known at copper mtn as super feet or what ever 225 bucks
bottom of feet kill
HELP
Ha! love the last picture.
Good luck with your next race, lets hope it’s a bit more successful than yesterday
Who likes easy things Jon? Keep on working and getting confidence; results will arrive.
keep it up Jon – focus on your end goals and try not to get lost along the way
compete in big mountain skiing instead. Rule the mountains.
Keep your head up!
i would say u need that “R8 Janni Marbella Gumball Goodlife” to keep you going…
so, just think positive and keep doing what you do best and love most: skiing.
keep your head up everyone has a bad day you will figure it out just push that much harder. If you don’t like skiing in hard conditions learn to love it and find a way. To be the best you work to be the best and act like your going to be the best no other option. Set backs humble us now its time to work that much harder and make it not happen again. Keep working hard man love the blog and the R8, keep working!
I have got to get with Tom on this one. We know you train hard but there are lots of other guys training way more. I think a few choices have to be made between hardcore skiing or R8 Janni Marbella Gumball Goodlife.
Either way love the blog, check it daily.
Good luck!
You can always cry in your R8.
Sad to see this but honestly… Marbella, Golf, Cars, and all other stuff you do in december/january while the others are on snow training doesnt really help… Focus on skiing or the goal of Olympics is gonna be out the window pretty soon…
You can do it!!
