Good morning! Today I thought I would start the day by sharing my expectations for Sundays race in Sölden.
To be honest I feel super calm and stoked to race on Sunday, not because I think I have the biggest chance of creating a miracle, but because I feel like I have learnt a ton over the past few week so I am excited to try to implement that on my race skiing as that has been a bit of a problem in the past.
Over the past 10 years there has only been 3 people to finish in the top 30 with a start nr over 60, which I believe is close to what I will have. So the odds are no doubt against me. That has however helped me to relax a bit and look at this as great training for the first EC races. I feel like I have nothing to loose and my goal is to go out and ski as fast as I can and push every gate at 100% with no regard for how tired I will get and how tough the steep section will be. Last time I started here I was thinking about how to make it all the way down and how tough it would be. So this time around I have divided the course in my head in sections, where my gaol is to ski the first part like the course was only 30 seconds long and if that goes well just keep on charging. I think this can help me a lot and give me a more fun mindset to the race.
As I have mentioned this fall we have sort of started over with a lot of stuff in my skiing and tried to build a good base for the years to come, I think that looking at my skiing that way with a more long term plan has for sure helped me to stay more excited and calm as I know that this is just a great practice day for the future where I will hopefully return with a better start nr after some good EC results. But who knows, maybe I can be the 4th person to find the speed from a very high nr? Either way I am stoked to be here and for the first time I am entering a WC race with no pressure from myself and I cant wait for Sunday to come around!
