Full speed again!

There we go, its been a while since I entered my blog admin page but now its time to kicks start everything again!

Have had a fantastic summer and letting go of the blog for a few weeks has really helped me to relax. Will put together a post once we get to NZ with all the best pics and a summery of what I have been up to. But first things first! Right now we are in Hongkong after a nice 12h flight from London, the only shitty thing is that we are just about to board the same plane for another 11 hour flight, NZ is amazingly far away from Europe! ;-)

Stoked to be back with the Europe Cup team though, feels like everyone is super pumped to ski! The plan for NZ goes something like this:

  • 5 days in Mt Hutt training
  • 4 days of races in Australia
  • 20 days in Cornet Peak, race and training
  • 7 days in Hutt for races

Also very happy to have Oskar back with me so make sure to stay tuned for a million amazing pics from NZ!  Time for us to fly again! ;-)

I’d guess Jon is going to the 2 ANC FIS GS Races at Mt Hotham so that he has ANC points for the NZ races and can therefore get a good start position.

    Hi Dakotah,
I’m a ski racer from NZ. The best snow and weather conditions in NZ are from late July to early/mid Sept with August being the best.
The North Island field of Mt Ruapehu tends to get the most snow and on its day is possibly the best mountain in the country however it suffers from awful weather with a lot of closed days and is v. crowded.
The main S. Island fields are Coronet Peak, Remarkables [Queenstown] Treble Cone, Cardona [Wanaka] and Mt Hutt [Canterbury]. The ski fields around Queenstown and Wanaka have v. good weather + snow cond generally. Treble Cone has v.good back country skiing. Cardona is quite flat so I wouldn’t spend a lot of time there if you an advanced skier although there are still so pretty cool bits. Mt Hutt has a bit of tendancy for crappy weather.
NZ also has a lot of club fields which I would probably only go to in August and spend one day each at; the best in my opinion are Roundhill, Cragieburn, Mt Lyford, Mt Dobson, Ohau and Porters although all the rest are worth a look too if you have the time!!
Australia doesn’t tend to have as good a snow conditions as NZ and is known to be the most expensive country in the world to ski in.
    Hope that helps

Seems like mostly a racing-specific trip. I’m planning one down to Oz and NZ myself for next summer. Completely ignorant of the area, so can anyone recommend mountains/resorts to look into for the best snow? Also, when is an ideal time to make the journey from the states? Thanks! I’m with you, Driver, I tend to stay as far away from Fb as possible these days so I’m looking forward to keeping up through the blog again.

Good to have you guys back.
When I look at the schedule I see there is no airtime included. Only racing? Not one little jump?
Oh yeah I hope you guys are planning to do some car jumping again!!

    peace out,
